Photographer Sophie Ristelhueber’s first book, Intérieurs, is a collaboration with her future husband François Hers. Contained in the first section are colour images by Hers of empty 1970s Belgium social housing interiors while the second portion consists of black and white images of the interiors’ inhabitants taken by Ristelhueber. Initially, Hers had proposed that Ristelhueber compose texts to accompany his photos describing the supposed inhabitants of these interiors. But she found that the camera was better suited to conveying the words she was looking for.
