Founded in 2010 by the Australian designer duo Melvin Tanaya and Lyna Ty, Song for the Mute creates contemporary womenswear and menswear by treasure hunting or inventing rare fabrics from Italy and Japan. The young designers hold Yohji Yamamoto and Comme des Garcons’ Rei Kawakubo as mentors while setting their footsteps in the high-end fashion world as ‘textile alchemists’.
