One of only two female members of the famed Antwerp Six, Ann Demeulemeester has quietly been maintaining a business of romantic gothic fashion since 1985. Demeulemeester, along with her classmates and contemporaries of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, established the first ever Belgian fashion dynasty in the 90’s as the trend of anti-fashion grew in popularity. The house’s collections are characterized by the use of balanced contrast through textile and colour. Ever in search of a balance of darkness and romance, the growing cult of goth fashion acolytes still have their Northern Star.
