The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan & Quentin Fiore

Images from The Medium is the Massage: An Inventory of Effects 1967

Marshall McLuhan understood in the mid-twentieth century what many are still grasping today. The Canadian philosopher, who studied abroad at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, came to realize the transformative power of media - a subject with which we still struggle. The majority of McLuhan’s work was conducted during the 1960’s at a period of rapid change via the proliferation of electric energy and media. Today as the digital realm begins to touch more parts of our daily lives with each passing terran cycle - McLuhan’s teachings are just as relevant as the day he published them.

McLuhan collaborated with graphic designer Quentin Fiore to publish a handbook for the individual’s interaction with media. From the self to the wheels of a car, he explores the power of new technologies and how they shape the world around us. Available at Amazon
