Shanghai based designer Ziggy Chen is a master of harmonious contrast. Inspired by the influx of new cultural influences that arrived in Shanghai at the turn of the 20th century, each piece of clothing is an ode to experimentation and iteration on tradition. As a former textile lecturer, Chen did not begin designing clothing for himself until quite late in his career. His experience within the industry and his deep knowledge of textiles makes for a design practice that leaves no stone unturned. With custom fabrics and beyond luxury construction, Ziggy Chen produces some of the most beautiful clothing emerging from China. Design hallmarks include subtle deconstruction, unconventional fabrics, historical facing modern silhouettes, and meticulously executed finishing. The collections employ familiar feeling fabrics and shapes but configure them in an innovative way to break new ground in the space of artisanal luxury.
