Where evolution may have failed humanity, outerwear does not. Humans possess little natural insulation in the form of hair (or fur) and as such, outerwear was developed. Fur was abandoned in place of large brains which enable the creation of items. These items not only shield from the elements like wind and water, but also provide a barrier between the skin and the outside world to protect from invasive organisms like parasites and bacteria, much in the same way as fur. Outerwear is essential to human existence, without it, our reality would not have materialized.
